Extra Time Hub
Lincoln City Foundation’s EFL Extra Time Hub is part of a national network designed to increase social interaction for over 55’s. The hubs aim to use the power of their partner football club in the local communities to bring people together.
Our central hub provides social activities with the chance to catch up over a cup of tea and biscuits as well as a chance to try different activities and sports. We hope to vary activities each week and include quizzes, bingo, boccia, new age kurling, carpet bowls and seated exercises.
This movement aims to make a positive difference to the lives of retired and semi-retired people and for them to find out about the range of activities on offer in their free time as well as give them the chance to meet and spend time with other like-minded people from the area.
Our Extra Time Hub has evolved over the past year to allow us to continue through Covid. Whilst not being able to meet face to face we have been posting activity packs and doing online meet ups and sessions.
Our activator, Ian and the rest of our Health and Wellbeing team are open to idea and nothing is off the table! We want the hub sessions to be your time to do something you enjoy and your chance to inspire others.
We hope as the year goes on and we can meet face to face safely, we will be able to offer sessions such as health walks, walking football, community gym sessions and walking cricket as well as other groups and opportunities.
‘Extra Time Hubs’ is a national project from the EFL Trust and will initially be delivered by 11 EFL Clubs. The Hubs will harness the power of football clubs in the local communities to bring people together.
Extra Time Hubs has been made possible with thanks to National Lottery funding from Sport England and we aim to bring together retired and semi-retired people to have a positive effect on the range of activities available to them in their free time and the opportunity to meet and spend time with like-minded people from the area and to prove that you’re never too old learn to do the things you’ve always wanted to do.
