Our Mission

The aim of the Lincoln City Foundation Sport & Education Programme is to help young people maximise their potential in football, education and life. It puts well-being and personal development at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to develop well-rounded individuals as well as high-quality players. We will provide expert services, support and advice to students and parents.  

Our Vision

We want our students to be technically excellent and tactically astute independent decision-makers on and off the field, equipped to be successful in the game of life!  

Education

All students will study towards a Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 3 A-Levels). BTEC classes will be a mixture of theory and practival sessions in order to deliver course content. The qualification is split into 14 unit; 4 externally examined (two in Yr 12 and 2 in Yr 13). All students are accessed internally through written reports, presentations, discussion, case studies and practical assessments. There are a variety of units:

•Sports Analysis 

•Anatomy and Physiology 

•Sports Leadership 

•Coaching for Performance 

•Sports Event Management 

 

Alongside your studies you may have the opportunity to compete on a FA Level coaching qualification and engage in a tutorial programme to develop your life skills and practical abilities.

What To Expect

Education is hugely important, and this aspect of the programme will help students achieve a productive and fulfilling career in sport, both on and off the field. Students offered a place on the programme, will receive both football training and education programmes through Lincoln City Foundation. All students will study towards a Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) and will also have the opportunity to resit GCSE Maths and English if required based on grades achieved at secondary school. BTEC classes will be a mixture of theory and practical sessions in order to deliver course content.

Progression

Aside from playing football, you will learn lots of different skills and gain qualifications that will allow you to progress into Higher Education to pursue a variety of careers in the sport and leisure industry. Here are just a few careers that started from a qualification in BTEC Sport.

•    Sports Analyst

•    PE Teacher

•    Sports Events Management

•    Sports Psychologist

Our extensive work placement programme allows students to “try before you buy” in numerous areas of sport and leisure, ensuring our graduates leave with a clear idea of their future endeavours.

•    Lincoln City Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching & Development

Or why not train to become a sessional coach with the Foundation? At the end of your Btec programme of study, you will have gained an FA Level 1 coaching certificate, allowing you to become an assistant coach.

Entry Requirements 

  • Aged between 16 to 18 (Option for Year 11 graduates) 

  • You must pass English Language and Mathematics at Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent)

  • Show an interest in the theory and practical sides of sport and leisure
