Deciding what next steps to take after A-Levels, BTEC or an apprenticeship can be quite daunting. You don’t have to have all the answers or decisions made just yet, but if you know that you would love a career in the sports industry whether it be in football or any other professional sports setting, you have come to the right place!
Here at the Foundation we are partnered with the University of South Wales to deliver a 2 year Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development, with an optional 3rd year to top the qualification up to a BSc.

Our degree builds upon experiences at Level 3 BTEC Academy, but if you haven’t done our level 3, don’t worry, we can guide you into some fantastic opportunities. Whether you have come through our BTEC academy or are joining us at The Foundation for the first time, the degree programme will enhance knowledge and experience, both personally and professionally, providing you with a solid grounding for whichever career you step into after graduating.
The curriculum is varied and is a mix of blended learning, some theory lectures and some practical sessions. The course is split up into different units. You will study units from Football Event Management to Introduction to Sport Science. Alongside your studies, you will also be able to complete an FA Level 2 coaching qualification. You will benefit from the expertise of highly qualified teachers on-site at Lincoln City Foundation and via virtual means with lecturers from the University of South Wales, meaning you have access to two sets of tutors for the price of one! There are also all expenses paid residential trips to USW!

Hands on experience plays a key role in the degree, so students will have the opportunity to coach a variety of sessions for Lincoln City Foundation as part of the community team and as a sessional coach. To provide students with the best opportunity to succeed, 10 hours of football coaching will be incorporated into the timetable in year 1, and 8 hours into the timetable in year 2. If you choose to top up your degree to the full BSc, in year 3 you will embark on an internship with the Foundation, producing some useful resources and research as part of your course, which can then be published and utilised by the Foundation!
Studying at the LNER Stadium you will have access to all of the stadium facilities including the education centre, learning hubs and the state of the art 3G. You will be fully submersed into the professional football setting, gaining daily first hand experience of what a career might be like after you graduate.
If you are looking at a career within professional sport, in particular football, our degree programme strikes the perfect balance between education and experience, which is vitally important in the sports and leisure industry. The progression post degree is limitless. You will have had real life experience within various sports settings, that will be invaluable when you step out into the world of work, wherever that might be. Lincoln City Foundation and USW considers all applications on an individual basis - previous experience and personnel is as important as academic results. Sound good?
