Sørensen attends conversation club

Updated: Feb 3, 2023

As part of the EFL’s Week of Action, Imps midfielder Lasse Sorensen joined Lincoln City Foundation’s regularly ran Conversation Club.

The programme helps non-English speakers learn the language by becoming a part of a community and engaging with individuals from a variety of countries. Over 1,000 people have now attended the free sessions, going on to progress into opportunities such as employment or community volunteering.

The Danish midfielder said:

“I think this is a really great programme. It was very useful for me when I learnt the language to speak to new people, and so it’s good the foundation provides a platform in the community for local people to do the same. “It is important to have a good community, whether that’s providing opportunities locally or strengthening our fan base for a matchday. If we can all be together across Lincoln as a tight unit, that would be great.”

Martin Hickerton, CEO of Lincoln City Foundation, added:

“The conversation classes held at the LNER Stadium are really important to us. There are lots of people across the city who don’t speak English as their first language and we find they can be quite isolated. “People who have just moved here may not be familiar with the area, but they might know where the football stadium is because they can see the floodlights throughout the City! That allows us to attract them in and then help open up some doors for people.”
