The Runaway Rustons from Siemens Energy, partnered with the Foundation, took to the hills of Lincoln, winning the inaugural Lincoln Krazy Races and raising hundreds of pounds for the Foundation.
The winning car was modelled on a vintage Ruston, two of which are based at Siemens’ Energy factory in Lincoln, with an Imp on the front of the vehicle.
The LNER Stadium hosted the scrutineering event that cars had to go through before competing, ensuring they were safe and within the competition's rules and guidelines.
It was the first time the event was held in Lincoln and was a success, with the route accommodating 15-20,000 spectators.
More than £100,000 has been raised for different local charities over the different Krazy Races events that happen nationwide.
Alex Bavin, director of operations at the Foundation said: “Congratulations to Siemens Energy! They did an amazing job with their car, and huge thank you to the team for all their hard work and support in fundraising for the Foundation. We are now looking to develop this winning partnership and collaborate our youth team and their stem team on projects going forwards.
“Krazy Races was a fantastic and exciting event that brought the city together for excellent causes, and we are already looking forward to the next one.”
Phil Hatherley, a member of the Leadership Team for Siemens Energy in Lincoln said: “It was such a pleasure to race the kart on behalf of the Lincoln City Foundation. I was particularly pleased when the opportunity came about and so proud of the team for not only making a great looking kart, but a winning one too!
"It was an amazing day with smiles all around, even in the rain. And aside from the event, we’re looking forward to continuing relations with the Foundation as we look to work together on topics such as community engagement and STEM projects."
