Doorstep Deliveries Spread Christmas Cheer!

Staff from Lincoln City Foundation have been playing the role of Santa this week by delivering Christmas hampers to the doors of individuals who have been involved in our ‘Tackling Loneliness Together’ project. The ‘Tackling Loneliness Together’ project aims to support older people in our communities who may be feeling vulnerable or isolated. Through funding made available from the English Football League Trust (EFLT), this has meant the Foundation has particularly been able to support those impacted by the lifestyle restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic during recent months.

This could especially be the case this year as measures to keep people safe due to Covid-19 will still be in place. Therefore, we really wanted to do something which will help spread some extra cheer and raise a few smiles in the run-up to Christmas.” Thanks to additional funding from Western Power Distribution, the Foundation have been able to create special hampers filled with local, festive treats which have been sourced by our friends at Lincolnshire Co-Op. Four first-team players - Tom Hopper, Anthony Scully, Remy Howarth and Zach Elbouzedi – have also been on hand to complete some surprise doorstep deliveries.

Remy Howarth, First-Team Player for Lincoln City Football Club said,

"It was amazing handing out the presents to everyone involved in the project and hearing some of the stories from the fans as well. Everyone is raring to get back to the stadium with us, and I cannot wait to experience the atmosphere when we are all together again."
