Poacher's Pundits match report: Peterborough United

A large crowd saw an entertaining game between The Imps and Posh, with both sides creating good chances to earn the three points.

Early on in the match Sorensen intercepted the ball at the halfway line and beat two players down the right hand side of the penalty box but unfortunately curled his shot into the side netting.

The game was fairly even with Peterborough dominating possession but without creating any real chances. That was until the 40th minute when they broke down the right, Ajiboye crossed the ball and Ricky Jade Jones glanced his shot across the top of the cross bar from close range.

In the second half Lincoln upped their game and moved the ball quicker. But Lucas Jensen had to make a cracking save from a curling shot by Burrows.

A few minutes later some fast-flowing football down the left hand side saw Hackett through on goal and blast his ball on target. Unfortunately Jed Steer was able to get down to his near post to make the save.

Lincoln were now dominating the game and creating several chances to gain triumph. Some clever quick passing in central midfield set Sorensen through. He was tackled but the ball deflected to Mandroiu. His first shot was blocked, and he put his rebound just wide even though half the crowd thought he had buried it as the net rippled.

Towards the end of the game, and with Lincon pushing for the winning goal, a poor defensive header let in Draper through on goal. However his shot drifted over the bar.

The final chance of the game saw Sorensen (who had a great game on the right), passing to Hamilton who used his body expertly to spin away from the defender. He was advancing on goal and tried to pass the ball accurately into the bottom left corner. Unfortunately, it just went wide by a few inches.

The final score ended nil nil, however a point was probably a fair result and extends Lincoln’s undefeated run to three matches.
