Lincoln City Half Marathon postponed until 2022

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

Lincoln City Foundation & Curly’s Athletes have announced that their flagship road race event, due to take place in September 2021, will be postponed until Sunday the 18th of September 2022.

An event of this scale takes a substantial amount of planning- planning that we normally would be right in the midst of. However, with ongoing restrictions, we are unable to engage with local communities/businesses/charities in the way that we would like.

Lincolnshire, along with the rest of the U.K, has made some hugely positive steps in combatting the spread of Coronavirus, but there remains an air of caution to all restrictions being fully lifted to allow large volumes of people to run through the city centre in September.

With this being the first running of this race, we want it to be a truly spectacular one. The nature of this specific event means it would not potentially be the experience for runners, or residents, we would want to deliver if Coronavirus restrictions are extended.

Charlotte Hornsby, Head of Operations and Lincoln City Foundation, said

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the planning of the event; from the local authority, who are fully supportive of our decision to postpone, to the volunteers and to everyone who has entered the race.
Our charity, like so many, has seen a significant reduction in fundraising activities over the last 12 months, but we are looking ahead to bringing Lincolnshire a portfolio of engaging events that will invite communities to get active with safety as our priority.”

Thank you for your continuing patience and understanding, and we look forward to delivering an epic event next year.

Runners who are currently signed up to this event will have received an email with all the information about moving their place or securing a refund. Anyone interested in signing up for the Lincoln City Half Marathon 2022 should CLICK HERE
