Lincoln City Foundation are Sport & Physical Activity Finalists

Lincoln City Foundation are celebrating their nominations for Active Lincolnshire's; Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards due to be announced on 12 November 2020. 




The inspiring finalists for the annual Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards 2020 have been revealed today. More than 30 finalists, across 11 categories have been selected from over 200 nominations received.

This year’s awards aim to highlight and say thank you to some of the incredible people, groups and organisations that have helped to keep Lincolnshire active and healthy during this challenging year.


Categories, where we are finalists, include:


Active Club – Lincoln City Foundation and partnership with Lincoln City FC

Recognition for how we adapted to actively engagement with our local community, participants and supporters throughout the Coronavirus lockdown when face-to-face interaction was suspended. The nomination included calling LCFC season ticket holders and offer assistance, the work of our Community Response Team (in partnership with Lincolnshire Coop), fun online and paper based activities for children and those aged over 55, how we are helping to tackle loneliness in Lincoln and messages of support from the first team manager, Michael Appleton

Tom Hopper – Inspirational Sportsperson

Tom Hopper, LCFC first team player launched a fundraising campaign to support FiSH in July called #MoveforMealsChallenge Tom said:

“It’s an honour to be put forward for the award. I’m a big believer in the benefits of physical activity and I was lucky to be given the opportunity to try and help the community with the Move for Meals Challenge with the backing of the Lincoln City Foundation and the first team squad!” 

Alice Carter – Inspirational Sportsperson


The Foundation is also proud to announce our colleague Alice Carter has been shortlisted for Inspirational Sportsperson. 


Alice Carter, Senior Community Organiser was nominated as an individual who has continued to lead by example by assisting her community and with achieving her personal goals through this uncertain period. Alice is a keen runner, and a valuable member of the Community Organising and Lincoln City Half Marathon team, where she has shown she can adapt, be resilient and motivate others around her. 


Charlotte Hornsby, Head of Operations at Lincoln City Foundations said:


“we are thrilled to be finalists at the awards and is a great way to thank and recognise our staff team and our partnership with Lincoln City FC. 
“The Coronavirus outbreak has impacted us all, and we understand that there are some vulnerable members of our community who needed some extra support through the offer of shopping, or a friendly voice on the end of the phone.
“Further congratulations go to Tom and Alice, who are flying the flag for Team Lincoln City.”
