Lincoln City Foundation staff have raised more than £350 which will go towards their Inspiring Lives Appeal that supports existing and developing disability projects.
Members of the team joined the Home Heroes of the UK on Sunday 26 April to take on the 2.6 Challenge and completed individual challenges including a run around the city, a 2.6-hour Danceathon and a live streamed back-to-back DJ-off with 26 songs.
Alice Carter, Senior Community Organiser, on completing her challenge said: “I feel like I have run a marathon, which I have now dubbed the Lincoln 26 Run and included a 13-mile route with 13 ascents of Lincoln's toughest hills.
“I am really pleased that people have got behind our fundraising efforts at this difficult time and thank you to those that are continuing to support the Foundation - your support really motivated me to tackle those ascents! ”
Like most charities, Lincoln City Foundation has not been able to continue with the delivery of some their programmes and is working hard to engage with individuals and communities through this uncertain time and safeguard Foundation projects for the future.
Elizabeth Welch, Marketing and Communications Manager said: “Volunteering to take part in the 2.6 Challenge was a great way for us to do something together as a family at home to raise money for a charity we are passionate about.
“It can be difficult to feel connected to the outside world during lockdown, but during the live stream of our Danceathon we had around 40-50 different people tune in and cheer us on, which really helped motivate us.
“We are so proud to have achieved our challenge, raised funds for the Foundation and hopefully encouraged others to take on their own challenges.”
Paul Hamnett, Head of Foundation said: “Every donation we receive for the Foundation is greatly appreciated and to have staff members raise money to support the work is tremendous. I am really proud of what our staff members achieve and is great to be part of this team.”
