Lincoln City Foundation staff team are Showing Racism the Red Card to support the UK’s leading anti‐racism educational charity in their national campaign.
Once a year, in October, Show Racism the Red Card host their annual fundraising and awareness event, Wear Red Day.
The day of action is for the people of the UK to stand up together and state that racism has no place in society and cannot be allowed to prevail. The charity educates 50,000 young people per year tackling racism and prejudice at a grass roots level and their work is increasing in demand.
Raj Randhawa, Community Manager at Lincoln City Foundation said, “Today we stand united in support of Show Racism the Red Card in their annual initiative ‘Wear Red Day’. Football is a unique and powerful medium that can bring people from different backgrounds, cultures, religions and nationalities together. Progress continues to be made in tackling all forms of discrimination across every level of the game but, clearly, it is evident from a number of recent high-profile and distasteful incidents at matches that discrimination remains an issue society needs to address. Subsequently, we need to support organisations such as Show Racism the Red Card to enable the campaign to continue their positive work with more young people and adults across the UK to challenge discrimination in our society.
Show Racism the Red Card invites you to wear red on 18 October 2019, wherever you are and tell others why and join the social media activity on the day by the hashtag #WRD19
You can support this charity further by donating. Text ‘RED’ to 70470 to donate £1 so they can expand on the work they do in communities.
