Can you help tackle period poverty in your community?

Updated: Feb 15

The Foundation staff have been working closely with our local Tesco stores for the last year to collect donations of different sanitary products and delivering them to several different places in and around Lincoln as part of the larger Red Box Project and the On The Ball campaign within football.

Any products donated are divided into boxes and then redistributed to those in need within our community. The Foundation have been able to donate to local schools, children centres, charities and organisations to try and make a difference and reduce period poverty. Our most recent deliveries went out to P3, Lincolnshire Rape Crisis Centre, Age UK and Think 2 Speak. Alongside these deliveries we been able to make sure that every ladies toilet at the LNER stadium has a “just in case” box which is in support of the “On the Ball” campaign.

Megan from the Lincolnshire Rape Crisis Centre said “Thank you so much for delivering the sanitary products to us. We can certainly make use of them in our women’s centre. We think that it is brilliant that you are not only helping people who suffer from period poverty, but also actively highlighting the issues faced by women and girls in Lincolnshire and beyond.”

As highlighted in a recent BBC New story, the introduction of a government led scheme which offers free products to any state school and college is a step towards tackling period poverty. The scheme aims to prevent children missing school if they don’t have access to products at home. With this in place the foundation is turning our focus onto local charities and organisations to ensure anyone can receive help if they need it.
