Football development

programme

Lincoln City Foundation are relaunching their Football Development Programme for the 2020/21 season and places are going fast, so please book on to avoid any disappointment of missing out! Players aged from 3 to 16 years old are able to sign up for this exciting opportunity. Across the football development programme, we pride ourselves on providing opportunities, whilst creating an inclusive and positive learning environment so children can develop their game whilst having fun!

This is a great way to receive some extra training whilst playing grassroots football, or for some, an opportunity to start playing the game.

Our aim has always been to embed the correct techniques right from the outset, encouraging young footballers to play and develop naturally. We believe football should always be played with a smile and for those aspiring to excel in the game, we offer genuine pathway to excel.

COVID-19 Update

We are constantly monitoring and reviewing updates surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the situation in the UK.

Updates are being made by the UK Government on a daily basis and these continue to be monitored by the Club.

With the increase of cases in the UK and in-line with recent FA directives, our Player Development Programmes will be postponed until further notice.

Despite this, we are pleased to inform that we are aiming to have sessions up and running from September 2020 (COVID-19 guidelines permitting), therefore we are taking bookings for the 2020/21 season. If we are unable to start in September due to government guidelines, we will delay the start date of each centre and extend the end date so that players receive the full 40 sessions. Places are going fast so please book to avoid any disappointment of missing out.

We run a series of development centres across the region, using the Lincoln City coaching syllabus to develop individual skills and match awareness. Our Development Centres are open to all young footballers who want to learn and improve their skill level.

Our team of coaches will focus on a different theme each week, as we look to improve the technique and understanding of all positions in the game. These themes are then reinforced in small-sided matches.

The Development Centres follow the FA Four Corner Model of football: Technical, Physical, Social and Psychological. Open Development Centres also offer a first step on the Lincoln City FC player development pathway to our Advanced and Elite sessions. All players in our Development Centres will be continuously monitored for inclusion in our Advance and Elite Development programme.

Advanced/Elite development centre

Our Advanced and Elite Development Centre's are a further stage in the Lincoln City FC player development pathway. The syllabus places specific emphasis on enhancing the skills of gifted young footballers, providing a platform for talented players to progress in the game. The Advance and Elite Development is by invitation only and fits in with our ethos of giving every player the opportunity to reach their full potential. The course is rigorously structured to enhance development and carries a higher expectation of performance.

Comprehensive fixture programme forms a key part of the Advance and Elite Development Centres. In the 2019/20 season saw the introduction of fixtures against national football development programmes. To date, the fixture programme has included matches against the likes of Ipswich Town and Sunderland. For the 2020/21 season, we will be looking to build on our fixture programme and organise matches between other clubs within the English football pyramid.

While the level of technical ability is enhanced in the Advance and Elite Development Centres, Lincoln City Foundation will always strive to provide a relaxed and enjoyable environment for young players to improve. Therefore, all sessions are designed to be fun and engaging plus players can continue with their local club and train with us. We also work in close partnership with the Lincoln City Academy to ensure those players at the top end of ability are given the chance to follow a clear pathway into the club structure.
